UK Wi-Fi operator The Cloud bought Airnyx, a hotspot operator in Germany: Airnyx has built 500 hotspots in locations including petrol stations in Germany. The Cloud already has 5,000 hotspots in the UK and plans to open up the Germany network to roamers who subscribe to other networks.

Let's hope The Cloud gets competent people over in Germany who can set up Wi-Fi access in conferences. The Cloud was supposed to deliver free Wi-Fi access at the WLAN Business Summit in Paris last October 2004. I spoke at the Summit. Alas, they could not even get the Wi-Fi network up. So there we all were at a Wi-Fi event with no Wi-Fi.
